Series, is the perfect fusion of speed, history, and leisure. Make it your vacation destination as you and your family dip your toes in the sand at some of the world's most beautiful beaches. Make it your personal best on this iconic flat, fast course. Make it your race-cation. Make it yours. Swim The two-loop swim takes place in the Gulf of Mexico.
Athletes will have a short beach run between laps. Strong currents, riptides, and occasional marine life are possible; a universal flag system is used locally. The swim course is in a clockwise direction. Water temperatures are typically in the low degree Fahrenheit range, making it wet suit legal.
Athletes will have a short run on the beach to the shower and then into transition. Athletes will self-seed into swim start corrals based upon their estimated swim finish time. Additionally, there are intermediate cutoff times in place. Each athlete will be allotted 1 hour 10 minutes to complete the first loop and 2 hours 20 minutes to complete the entire course.
Although you may be permitted to continue in the event, if you exceed these time limits you will be considered a DNF at the end of the day. Self-seeding will be based on your individual abilities according to your expected finish time. Swimming with like-ability athletes will benefit you, so you will not be overtaken by stronger swimmers.
Athletes' official race time will start at the water's edge when they enter the water. All athletes will have the traditional 17 hours to complete the entire event subject to intermediate cutoff times throughout the event.
Bike The one-loop course is flat and fast with some rolling hills to contend with. The highest point on the course is feet above sea level as you cross over the intercoastal waterway. As the day progresses light winds will challenge you on your return to transition.
Expect a fast bike split and be prepared to stay in your aerobars. The two-loop course is filled with breath taking views of the emerald coast waters along the shoreline. The sun sets early this time of year, so you may want to toss a long-sleeve shirt into your personal needs bag. We try to keep race listings up-to-date, but sometimes miss updates.
